Canon ef 35-105mm f4.5-5.6 Reviews
Solid glass, great focal length, January 6, 2012 By This review is from: Canon ef 35-105mm f4.5-5.6 After experience with both the Canon 50mm f1.8 prime and the 18-55mm IS this lens came my way. Compared with the 18-55mm; it adds focal length at the telephoto end while sacrificing wide angle. No IS, I didn't find IS very useful because it would not help with moving objects, it steadied the camera but not the shot, to reduce blurring you need fast shutter speeds, which works fine until you get indoors and need to let in more light, that's where the 50mm f1.8 prime comes in, by opening wide the aperture you keep a fast shutter speed and still take sharp photos in low light. This lens has an aperture of 4.5-5.6 which can make it very challenging to take sharp photos indoors, though it is possible with a steady hand and non-moving objects. So what's good about this lens? It's built sturdy, looks and feels just right on an XSi, the focal length, 35mm-105mm is great if you only want to carry one lens.
Is this an upgrade from the kit lens? no, but I prefer it to the kit... Read more
